Starlight Starbright strengthens Child Life KidZone TV Programming! Mount Sinai's KidZone TV is the first live, interactive Broadcast Studio in a Children's Hospital in the world which produces live programming at least twice a day for pediatric patients throughout the hospital who are restricted to their hospital rooms. A special television channel ( KidZone TV , Channel 78) is designated for live and/or pre-recorded television programs for children. Some of the goals of KidZone TV are to Teach children about the hospital environment and whom they are likely to meet Encourage self-expression Increase socialization opportunities for children who are isolated Create therapeutic diversion for patients and families experiencing stresses of Children hospitalized and on isolation in distant buildings for bone marrow or heart transplants, are able twice daily to tune in and participate in live programming from the KidZone Broadcast Studio. Live entertainment includes musicians, actors, choirs, magicians, and science programs. Popular interactive games that promote learning, socialization and creativity are Bingo, Name That Tune, Text Twist, and KidZone Trivia shows. Entertainers of all types have ease-of-access on the first floor and lend excitement to daily programming for our hospitalized patients. One day a week, the Big Apple Circus clowns put on a special show full of silly behavior and magic tricks. Children who are not confined to their rooms have the opportunity to be the camera operator, storywriter, or star of the show, while others have the opportunity to view the program and participate by calling in and answering a question, creating a story or winning prizes.
